O impacto visual desta auto-estrada elevada, em Tóquio, é simplesmente arrepiante! O viaduto, com mais de 20 km, encontra-se entre dois rios artificiais, compondo um cenário de uma escala pouco comum na compacta cidade de Tóquio.

The visual impact of this elevated highway in Tokyo is terrific! With more than 20 km, it's in between two artificial rivers, contributing for an amazing scenario with an unusual scale in the compact city of Tokyo!

Toda a estrutura é metálica incluindo pilares e tabuleiro. Nesta imagem é visível o sistema anti-sísmico, essencial numa cidade onde é possível sentir 1 a 2 sismos por mês! (eu já senti 1! que emoção!)

All the srutucture is metallic including pillars and platform. In this image the anti-seismic system is visible. This is essencial in a city where one can feel an earthquake 1 or 2 times a month! ( I already felt one! Amazing!)

Apesar de não existirem muitos espaços verdes em Tóquio (comparando com o densificado tecido urbano), grande parte da cidade é feita de bairros residenciais, de uma escala e ambiente muito acolhedores, onde até é possível ouvir grilos e, de vez em quando, avistar uma rara borboleta negra que poisa sobre uma flor.

There are not so many green spaces in Tokyo (comparing with the dense urban tissue), however a great part of the city is made of residencial neighborhoods, with a cosy scale and environment, where one can even listen crickets and, once in a while, sight a rare dark butterfly standing in a flower.

Um dos nós mais fascinantes de Tóquio. O sinal dos peões torna-se verde, e em segundos, centenas de pessoas cruzam-se criando um fluxo caótico e harmonioso. Podia ficar ali horas, encantado com o ritmo, a dinâmica e as vivências. Este toquiense entra na passadeira com o sinal já vermelho, na esperança de apanhar o comboio na estação em frente. Nao há tempo a perder em Tóquio, no entanto a japonesa não se parece incomodar pelo sinal vermelho, segue ao som do ritmo imposto pelos sapatos altos.

One of the most fascinating nodes in Tokyo. The pedestrian light turns it green, and in seconds, thousands of people cross creating a chaotic and harmonious flux. I could stay there for hours, enchanted by the rhythm, the dynamics and the lively atmosphere. This toyotie tries to cross the road in a rush, hoping to get the train at the station in front. There's no time to waste in Tokyo, however the japanese girl is not concerned with the red light, she makes her way imposed by the high hills.
